.BBC News Radio Cambridgeshire at Caldecote on Monday 16th August

—————————————————————————————————————————————

As part of our campaign to get the ineffective mini roundabouts removed, and the car-damaging speed thumps replaced with better traffic calming features, we have invited BBC Radio Cambridge to come and see the problems the community is facing and talk to residents who have been affected by these roundabouts and thumps.

All residents are invited to come and share their views, live on air, and help put pressure on Highways to do something constructive. What is the point in spending money to repair the roundabouts, when we will have to spend even more money to remove them and replace them with more effective traffic calming. In this time of severe cut backs, it just is not on.

If you have had damage done to your car by the thumps, or had near misses at the roundabouts, or have had emergency vehicles delayed by the slow speed they had to travel to get to you, then do come and let us know. Or just come and tell us what you think of the thumps and roundabout, and what you would like to see in its place.

Come on out anytime from 7.00am onwards. Live interviews will be at 7.05am and 8.05am, so come early.

I look forward to seeing you there.

If you would like to be interviewed by Cambridge Evening News for their news article on the matter, then please email me directly or click on the contact form to let me know.

Thank you for your support

    Dear Tumi,
Hi there, I hope you are well. I am a resident in Caldecote (Strympole Way) and I am interested to find out the latest with the speed thumps? I there any imminent plans to change them for less 'aggressive' measures that you know of?
    Thanks for your time
    Daniel

      Hello Daniel,
The Parish Council has started a project to overhaul the speed calming measures which will involve replacement of all or some of the miniroundabouts with T-junctions, followed by removal of the thumps to be replaced with more suitable calming measures. These measures will be specified following a traffic survey to be done, as part of the project. It was discussed at the last parish council meeting, so its worth having a look at the minutes. Else the Parish Clerk will be able to give more precise details.
      Regards
