All 45 South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) seats went up for election on Thursday 5th May 2022 in the 4-year election cycle that started in 2018. The Liberal Democrats retain administration of SCDC by gaining 6 seats to a total of 37.
Firstly I want to say a big thank you to residents of Caldecote, Bourn, Kingston, Little Gransden, Longstowe and Childerley for your strong support in re electing me to be your District Councillor for the next four years.
The results showed that I got 3-to-1 share of the votes cast, which is a resounding vote of confidence in my service over the past 12 years.
I am thrilled and honoured to be back. This is now my fourth (4th) term serving my community in this elected position and I am looking forward to what it brings.
I promise to continue to serve you to the best of my ability and working together with you to make our ward a great place to live.
Secondly, I wish to thank all my helpers and volunteers that I refer to as Team Tumi! You very kindly supported me in various ways, some by giving of your time and energy to deliver leaflets to residents in our ward, some by allowing me to put up election stakeboards, posters and big boards in your gardens or on your properties. And also thanks to those that helped on the day to do telling and get the vote out. I know some did all three and that is just fantastic. Thank you!
Thirdly, thank you to all the residents of South Cambridgeshire for showing confidence in South Cambs LibDems and our administration of SCDC over the past four years. We won 37 out of the available 45 seats, an increase of 6 seats from before the elections. The Conservatives were reduced from 11 to 8 seats. The Independent decided to stand as a Conservative candidate and lost that seat in the process.
Thanks to all who made this possible, and for your vote of confidence in us. This is what the Council now looks like.
Overall vote share tally in #LocalElections2022 throughout the district is as follows:
- Liberal Democrats 46.88%
- Conservatives 28.51%
- Labour 10.08%
- Green 11.90%
- Independent 2.63%
