Local communities, land owners and developers are being asked to suggest sites for possible new housing development in South Cambridgeshire.
This comes as the Planning Policy team starts work on the next stage for the new South Cambridgeshire Development Plan that will set the strategy for, and locations of, new development in the district over the next 20 years. This stage is the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA), and is a technical assessment to identify sites that are potentially suitable for housing. Sites will then be reviewed as part of the plan making process, to consider which ones should be allocated for development.
Cllr Tim Wotherspoon, portfolio holder for Northstowe and New Communities said:
“This is a chance for local people and landowners to get involved and suggest sites they believe may be suitable and available for housing development. It will help ensure the Council is able to test all the potential options before consultation with our communities begins on the new South Cambridgeshire Development Plan next year.“
.
The plan making process will begin in Summer 2012 with a public consultation on potential policies and site options for development (referred to as Issues & Options).
The Call for Sites lasts until 12 noon on Friday 29 July 2011. More information, and a questionnaire that must be completed for submitting sites, can be found at www.scambs.gov.uk/ldf
