Young residents in South Cambridgeshire can hone their sporting skills this summer with a programme of activities lined up by South Cambridgeshire District Council.
Junior netball camps for 7 to 15 year olds will give participants the chance to benefit from one-to-one help from England Netball qualified coaches and the opportunity to put their skills into practice in game play. Sessions will take place on Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 July, from 10am to 3.30pm, at Impington Sports Centre.
A junior athletics camp, also for 7 to 15 year olds, will help participants of all abilities in sprinting, jumping, throwing and endurance running with opportunities to compete throughout the day. Led by England Athletics qualified coaches, sessions will run on Wednesday 31 July and Thursday 1 August, from 10am to 3.30pm, at Wilberforce Road Athletics Track in Cambridge.
Each session will cost just £18 per child for the day or £30 for two siblings. To participate in two sessions will cost £30 per child, for three sessions £40 per child and four sessions £50 per child.
Participants are asked to bring a packed lunch and drink with them and to wear suitable footwear and clothing.
South Cambridgeshire District Council’s cabinet member for new communities, Cllr Pippa Corney, said: “As the legacy of the Olympics lives on, we are committed to encouraging everyone to use the district’s sports and leisure facilities more. These camps aim to enthuse and engage our younger residents, encouraging participation in sport and driving home the importance of keeping fit and living a healthy lifestyle.”
