Speed Thumps – County Highways Boss to visit Caldecote

The saga of the Caldecote Speed thumps moves into a new phase.

I have it on good authority that the Head of Highways at the County Council is set to visit Caldecote on Thursday 7th October 2010 to meet and discuss with the Parish Councillors this rather long drawn out saga, with a view to trying to end this farce.

.

It is hoped that he would also take the time to actually try out the mini roundabouts from the view point of trying to get out of the side roads. As it is, coming into the village, he only has to drive over them with the right of way, and so may have only a partial view of the problem. He would have to use the roundabouts as normal residents would, to be able to understand properly, the problems that residents face on a daily basis..

This visit is well and truly overdue. It is a testament to the efforts of the County Councillor, Fiona Whelan, that it is even taking place at all. Judging by the correspondence emails that have taken place with various areas within Highways, it is obvious that even within the Highways itself, there is no co-ordination and sharing of information. One group says… yes, we agree with you, these things should go, and yet another is saying, no, they are fine, repair them and we’ll adopt them.

.

So, roll on Thursday 7th October 2010. Look forward to seeing the  Highways topman at the meeting.
