Uplifting Hallelujah Instrumental Makeover

The effects of covid19 continue to make an impact on the lives of many across the world. Lockdown imposed by governments has seen life come to a standstill for many, whilst some like our keyworkers are busier than ever. Hallelujah! So many have dug deep and become creative in helping the rest of us get through lockdown as have these two musicians.

Daniele Vitale is a 28 year old Saxophonist based in Italy. Karolina Protesenko is a 12 year old violinist. She learnt to play violin when she was just nine years old. If you love music, I hope you enjoy this rendition of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.

Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah Saxophone and Violin instrumental

These two recorded their parts individually in their own country due to covid19 lockdown. Then using technology that has come into its own during lockdown as with online choirs, combined the pieces together. What we have is just fabulous.

Hallelujah was originally released on Cohen’s album “Various Positions” in 1984 but made no waves. It became popular through the recording by John Cale whose version is used in the film Shrek in 2001.

Jeff Buckley then recorded his version, one of the most acclaimed versions of Hallelujah in 1994, released posthumously as a single in 2007. On 2 April 2014, it was announced that Buckley’s version of the song will be inducted into the Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry

A friend sent me this piece on whatsapp this morning, and for me, it is an uplifting start to the day and to the week. So I figured, why not share it with others?
